Bottle-Grade PET Resin for Preform Manufacturers

A successful bottle starts with a preform that meets its design requirements. PET resin for preforms must suit the injection molding process and the final bottle application. A resin that fills the mold well still needs to deliver an acceptable preform for subsequent stretching, blowing and end-use testing.

Our supply portfolio includes established Chinese PET brands such as JADE, Wankai and Yisheng. Tell us whether you manufacture preforms for still water, carbonated beverages, hot-filled drinks or edible oil. We can help you review the available grade choices and confirm purchasing conditions for your selected material.

Already using a PET grade? Send its name or TDS with your inquiry. Comparing a candidate against your approved material is a practical starting point for evaluation.

Choose PET Resin by Your Final Bottle Application

Water Bottle Preforms

Prioritize the resin specification, appearance requirements and acetaldehyde control relevant to your water packaging. Evaluate the finished bottle against the approved design and customer requirements.

CSD Bottle Preforms

Evaluate resin candidates for carbonated beverage packaging alongside bottle design, material distribution and your pressure-related qualification tests. Select a designated CSD grade rather than relying on IV alone.

Hot-Filling Bottle Preforms

Specify the actual filling temperature, holding time, cooling sequence and bottle process. Hot-fill suitability depends on the grade and the complete packaging system, including heat-setting where required.

Edible Oil Bottle Preforms

Share bottle capacity, preform weight and transport conditions. Compare the available oil bottle grades against your container design, appearance and handling requirements.

PET Resin Grades to Discuss with Chemate

Use the following shortlist to begin a purchasing discussion. These are application examples, not a universal specification or a claim of direct grade equivalence.

ApplicationExample gradesNominal IV reference, dL/gEvaluation focus
Water bottlesCZ-302 / WK-801 / YS-W01Typically around 0.80Compare current grade TDS, appearance and water packaging requirements.
CSD bottlesCZ-328 / WK-851 / WK-881/ YS-C01Around 0.85Confirm designated application and bottle pressure performance.
Edible oil bottlesCZ-318 / WK-821 / YS-Y01Around 0.83 for these gradesCheck the container design, preform weight and handling tests.
Hot-fill bottlesCZ-333 / WK-811 / YS-H01Grade-specific, do not use a universal IV targetReview hot-fill designation and qualify the complete bottle process.

IV clarification: CZ-328 is listed around 0.85, WK-851 around 0.88, WK-881 around 0.87 and YS-C01 around 0.875 dL/g. CZ-318 is listed around 0.85, while WK-821 and YS-Y01 are around 0.83 dL/g. Confirm each selected grade against its current manufacturer TDS.

What Matters in PET Preform Raw Material?

Selection factorWhat your factory should check
Intrinsic viscosity IV valueThe specified IV, tolerance and test method. Compare with your approved material and assess processing behavior.
Acetaldehyde and appearanceThe resin specification and the quality requirements of the finished preform and packaged product.
Drying and handlingManufacturer instructions, dryer capability, moisture measurement and protection from moisture pickup after drying.
Reheat behaviorIf buying a fast-reheat grade, assess performance on your own oven and bottle line. A resin label does not establish energy savings.
Food-contact documentsDocumentation for the exact grade, source and intended market, plus finished-package validation where required.
Batch and source consistencyManufacturer identity, grade designation, lot traceability and batch COA.

Plan Your Bulk PET Resin Purchase

Brand and Grade Sourcing

Choose a specified brand and model, or ask us to review candidates for your application. Supply options and availability are confirmed with your quotation.

Document Review

Request the current TDS and identify the batch COA, SDS and food-contact documents you need. Confirm the available paperwork for the exact grade and source before purchase.

Packaging and Delivery

Include your packaging preference, order quantity and destination port. MOQ, bag size, loading arrangement, lead time and trade terms are stated in the agreed offer.

Repeat Procurement

Share your expected consumption and purchasing schedule. A clear grade specification and agreed delivery plan make repeat orders easier to coordinate.

Evaluating a New PET Resin on Your Preform Line

  • Define a baseline. Record the approved grade, preform drawing, weight, cycle time and defect rate.
  • Review candidate documents. Compare relevant specifications and request processing instructions before the trial.
  • Prepare the line. Check drying, material transfer, mold condition and traceability of the trial lot.
  • Assess preforms and bottles. Test dimensions, appearance and the final bottle properties required by your customer.
  • Confirm repeatability. Review results across the agreed trial conditions before authorizing routine use.

FAQs About PET Resin for Preforms

What raw material is used for PET preforms?

PET preforms are generally injection molded from bottle-grade polyethylene terephthalate resin supplied as chips or pellets. The selected grade should match the bottle application, processing equipment and intended contact conditions. Fiber-grade PET is not an automatic substitute for an approved bottle-grade material.

Which IV should I choose for PET preforms?

Begin with the grade already approved for your application or the manufacturer’s recommendation. Many water bottle grades are around IV 0.80, but different applications and grade designs use different values. Review the full specification and qualify the finished bottle instead of selecting solely by IV.

Can one PET resin produce all bottle types?

Do not assume that a single grade will suit still water, CSD, hot-fill and edible oil packaging. Each use has its own qualification requirements. Share all intended applications so that candidates can be screened, and test each packaging design under its intended conditions.

Do you supply PET resin or finished preforms?

We only supply PET resin raw material for factories that injection mold PET preforms. The quotation should identify the resin brand, grade, quantity and delivery conditions.

Can I replace my current resin with another brand?

A different brand may offer a candidate for evaluation, but comparable IV does not establish equivalence. Compare specifications, source documentation and processing instructions, then run a controlled trial. Approval should include the final bottle requirements, not just the appearance of the molded preform.

Does PET resin need drying before injection molding?

PET absorbs moisture and requires controlled drying before melt processing. Follow the selected manufacturer’s instructions and verify your dryer and transfer conditions. Moisture in a sealed shipment is not evidence that the resin is ready to process without drying.

Can you provide food-contact documents?

Include the intended country, food or beverage application and required documents in your inquiry. We will confirm what is available for the selected grade and source. Resin documentation should be reviewed alongside the requirements for the final package and its intended use.

What are your MOQ and packaging options?

Ask us to confirm MOQ, packaging size and loading arrangement for the selected supply offer. These conditions may vary with grade, source and destination. Providing your required tonnage and unloading constraints helps us prepare an offer suitable for your factory.

What should I send for PET resin grade selection assistance?

Send the bottle application, capacity, preform weight, current resin grade or TDS, target specifications and order quantity. For hot-fill or CSD packaging, add filling or carbonation conditions. For a production issue, include photos, defect location and the relevant process history.
